COMMUNITY CARE PROGRAM

Introduced in 2026, our Community Care Program reflects our shared responsibility to care for one another, look out for those around us, and promote a safe and inclusive festival environment for everyone at River & Sky.

Community Care Hubs

Located at our mainstage, beach stage,  and family camping, the Hubs are places to go for help, services,  essentials, and recycling. (The dance party will have a modified wellness booth with water.)

  • Essentials: Fill up on water, or get a quick hit of bug spray and sunscreen.

  • Lost children and parents can use the Hubs to find each other.

  • Harm Reduction materials will be available through a partnership with the Reseau Access Centre and their volunteers.

  • Accessibility rides: People who need mobility rides can call for a ride through the Hubs.

  • Other services: Hubs are also places to sort and dispose of your trash, and a place to pick up firewood (purchased at Merch)

Child Registry:

The Child Registry gives parents/caregivers the opportunity to register their child/ren with River & Sky in a safe, secure manner.

Participants are given wristbands with matching numbers (no identifying information) that may be referenced with contact information only at the Official R&S Child Registry location.

Accessibility Needs? Let us know

Last year, Dan Ashworth, from Access in Excess,  did an Accessibility Audit of River & Sky. Since his presentation to our Board in April, we’ve been working on implementing his recommendations.

Some gains made this year include creating a more accessible campsite, parking, and new spots — at our new Community Care Hubs — to access mobility rides.

If you have accessibility needs please email outreach@riverandsky.ca in advance of the festival.

Community Standards of Behaviour:

To maintain a space of trust and safety, the behaviors that undermine consent, respect, or the collective wellbeing of the festival community will not be tolerated.

The Community Care Agreement and Safety Policy apply to all River & Sky team members, participants, volunteers, artists and vendors. Read more below.

Training:

Bystander Intervention training has been offered to volunteers and other team members. It’s also available to all participants. Please see the handy toolkit below.

Reporting and Responding:

People can report harassment or unsafe situations at the Hubs or to volunteers, staff, paramedics and security.

REES

REES (Respect, Educate, Empower Survivors) is a third-party encrypted platform for reporting incidents of assault, harassment, bullying, and discrimination. Reports can be made anonymously (not tied to an email or login) or with a name attached, and a person can either do a “quick report” or create a profile to revisit the report later. Guests can reach REES via their website and our River & Sky login  (https://riverandskyfestival.reessecure.com/en/Login), through a QR code available in the program, or by clicking on the button below.

River & Sky is committed to responding to reports of harassment, assault, discrimination, or unsafe
behavior in a way that prioritizes the safety, dignity, and wishes of the individual who has
experienced harm while fostering a respectful and supportive festival community. Read more about this in our policy below.
