Bring your sense of curiousity and adventure in exploring River & Sky’s 2026 Workshops. No experience necessary.
Workshops are available on a “first come, first served” basis unless otherwise indicated. Most are free, however some have a small fee to join.
Unless otherwise specified, each workshop will take roughly an hour.

Explore the genre of ancestral beats. Weaving together contemporary styles with traditional Indigenous rhythms and wisdom, this workshop highlights the Seven Grandfather Teachings of love, respect, courage, honesty, wisdom, humility, and truth.
Gentle Hatha yoga session to welcome the day ahead. The class will be accessible for all levels of practice and all ages of guests. Wear comfy clothes and feel free to bring a towel or blanket to practice on. All are welcome!
Come create a collage while reusing materials such as old magazines, fabrics scraps, needle and thread, gathered items and natural found objects. The workshop will be partially guided by a licensed and practicing mental health and creative arts therapist, inviting you to anchor to a specific feeling you would like to process through collage, or merely follow your intuition and senses!
Age-appropriate guidance is available for children (with parent supervision), and all materials are provided.
A song circle and story time workshop for children aged 0-6 and their parents/guardians, focusing on music, singing, and movement. Rhythm sticks, shakers, scarves and bells provided.
The community mending circle is an invitation to slow down, sit with each other and take time to take care. Bring a beloved piece of clothing or gear to repair, or stitch some love and good intention into a piece of clothing to make an R&S keepsake. All are welcome. (Kids 9 and under need an adult buddy please!)
Join The Tiny Alchemist Co. for an enchanting, hands-on potion-making workshop designed especially for children. In this interactive class, kids will learn that food is medicine through story and imagination, craft a nourishing herbal potion using organic ingredients, work with edible flowers, colorful powders, and magical tools, set intentions and connect with the wisdom of the earth, and take home their very own tiny spirit companion in a jar!
$10 per potion.
A grounding and restorative experience amidst the beauty of the natural world. This guided walk blends mindfulness practices, somatic awareness, and eco-therapy techniques to help participants slow down, connect deeply with their surroundings, and cultivate inner peace. Ages 10+.

A harmony singing workshop for all levels of singers/musicians. Featuring fun vocal warmups, singing games, and a guided 3-part harmony accompaniment for a classic folk song! Ages 10+.
A workshop for parents/guardians (or older siblings) to attend with their child. Bring something cozy or comfortable to sit on, read a few books together and take a book back to your campsite for your little one to keep after the festival wraps up.

Come needle-felt with us down by the river! Learn the basics of needle-felting while crafting a beautiful butterfly. You can choose to create a pair of earrings or a decorative magnet.

Reconnect with your body through mindful movement and breath, awakening greater ease, mobility, and presence. Improve your balance, stability, spatial awareness, and strength while developing a deeper connection to how you move through space. All are welcome.
An educational discussion about moths, wheat pasting, and the relationships between pollinators and native plants, also featuring a chance to paint your own moth and add it to a collaborative moth mural/installation!

From Dokis First Nation, Connor Lafortune works in Life Promotion, harm-reduction, and Indigenous education. Anishinaabek, Queer, and Francophone, he uses his understanding of the world to shape his creations as a writer, spoken word poet, and musician. Participants will be guided through a rawhide rattle-making workshop. This type of rattle is an Indigenous musical instrument typically used at ceremonies and gatherings. Craft your own using natural materials like deer hides, sinew, and wood!

Festival days can be full of movement, connection, and sensory richness. This afternoon gathering offers a quiet space to land amidst it all. Through a series of guided meditation and mindfulness practices, we’ll explore the landscape within while staying rooted in the grounding presence of the natural world. Drawing on the elements, breath, body awareness, and present-moment experience, this session offers space to rest, reflect, and simply be.
Come as you are. No meditation experience is required. All are welcome.
Poets, join us at the Threshold Stage for a writing circle (performance optional)! Folks will be guided into mindfulness about their environment, memorable sensations, music that inspires, and other prompts themed around the festival’s atmosphere.
Create your own upcycled necklace using a colourful mix of second-hand beads. From pearls and glass to seashells and wood, you will find plenty of unique beads to choose from in all shapes, sizes and hues.

This music circle for kids offers a space for creative expression and musical play, including music and movement, singing, exploration of instruments and group music making. Ages 5-10 recommended.
Discover the ancient and dynamic practice of Thai Yoga Massage in this hands-on workshop. You’ll learn a series of guided Thai stretching techniques and take turns both giving and receiving, creating a balanced and supportive learning experience. Come with a partner or on your own. Please bring a towel or blanket as we’ll be working on the ground. All ages welcome.
Michelle will be teaching the basics of tie-dyeing as well as more complex motifs for seasoned dyers. Bring your own t-shirt or buy one for $10. There will be enough dye for one t-shirt per person. Let’s make some tie-dye fun!
