CAMPING AND MORE

New to River & Sky?  While the music is a great reason to come, there’s lots of other stuff that also makes up the fabric of the festival:

  • Swim in the Sturgeon River or at the mainstage in the oxbow
  • Take a workshop on movement, wellness, sustainability, and the arts
  • Browse the booths of our 16-18 artisan crafters
  • Sweat it out in the sauna
  • Explore the wonder of the  cosmos with the North Bay Astronomy Club
  • Take the stage at the Open Mic
  • Check out art installations
  • Paddle one of our canoes/kayaks or bring your own
  • Walk the trails

Camping-out and hanging-out whether that means pitching a tent, hauling an RV or sleeping in your van is another way to connect with nature and the people around you.

Tent Camping

If you’re camping in a tent there’s lots of different choices from Family Camping in a field to sites in the forest. The farther in you go, the more secluded you’ll be.

Trailers

We have a designated field  for trailers. There are no hook ups. If you are bringing a generator it should be a quiet one (inverted). As a good neighbour to the folks around you,  we ask that you don’t run genies from 11 pm to 9 am.

Glamps

There are a few of these unicorns available through our ticket system – we’ll put these up closer to the festival. Our former prospector tent glampsites are being replaced by wooden bunkies.

Experiencing River & Sky - FAQs

For safety and space reasons we don’t allow cars where people are tenting. There are wagons, dollies and other devices available to help pack your stuff in. If you have a wagon, please bring it as it’s helpful in moving stuff around including from your campsite to one of the stages.

For those who have mobility challenges, we offer rides on our UTVs. Please flag down a volunteer who will radio you a ride.

Getting around with a scooter, walker or wheelchair is possible, however the trails and road are made from packed earth, clay and sand which can be affected by rain. The beach stage has deep sand which also is difficult to navigate.

In 2025, Access in Excess did audit of the festival. We will be tackling a number of recommendations and sharing them here.

If you have questions or want to make us aware of your need please  reach out to info@riverandsky.ca

There is a mix of portable toilets and permanent outhouses. Porta-potties are serviced twice daily.

There are no showers. Swimming and saunaing are the main ways of getting clean. When washing with soap try to rinse off on land as even most bio/aqua degradable soaps do affect the water.

There is a water refill station at the mainstage. In 2025, a boil water advisory meant R&S had to purchase  water for festival patrons. The water is tested multiple times leading up the the festival to make sure it is safe.

Each year we have around 5-8 food vendors offering delectable snacks and meals. We’ll share who they are closer to the festival to help with your meal planning.

While  food is available for purchase, you can also bring your own. If you are cooking with propane on your own camp stove, please read the directions  carefully on using it and follow all the safety rules as there is the potential for explosion/fire.

There’s lots of walking that happens in moving between stages and  your campsite – protect your feet! Foot injuries are the # 1 injury experienced at R&S due to uneven terrain, slipping on wet trails (which have high levels of clay) and poky sticks. Closed toe shoes/sandals, and those with good grips, work best. Flip flops do not offer much protection or grip.

Bikes are welcome and a great way of saving some energy! A bell or horn helps let people know you are approaching and a light is needed for night.

Speaking of night. It is super dark. While we have some lighting, bringing a flashlight is a good idea.

There is some poison ivy on the property — it is marked with signage and also identifiable by its leaves of three. But is best to keep to the trails to avoid contact.

Absolutely! We have dog passes available for purchase. Keeping dogs on leashes is encouraged.

In planning your festival with a pooch, think about how your dog will react to:

  • large crowds
  • other dogs
  • loud music
  • sleeping in a tent – or being unattended in your tent at night

We have onsite paramedics available 24 hours a day who are able to address minor injuries. We are  also in close contact with Field First Response in the event of an emergency.

Our partner, Reseau Access Network, does wellness night time patrols and offers harm reduction during the day at its booth.

The closest emergency room is at the West Nipissing Hospital, 725 Coursol Rd., Sturgeon Falls. Turn right when you leave the property and follow the signs to Sturgeon — a 25 minute drive away.

Fires need to be contained in fire pits. In 2025, River & Sky began selling firewood as a fundraiser with drop offs at campsites. Firewood is ordered at the merch booth.

Please note that MNR fire bans apply to River & Sky.

Yes! River & Sky is a BYOB festival – we don’t sell alcohol. Open alcohol at your campsite is ok.

Please no glass ever! It is no fun to step on and hard to pick up.

Both Field and River Valley have an LCBO. To get to Field turn right leaving the property and drive 6 kms. To get to River Valley, turn left and drive 8 kms. River Valley also has a gas station.

Children are an important part of our audience and so is keeping them safe.

Children need to be supervised by their parents and guardians throughout their festival experience, especially at the beach, where there is no life guard,  in the sauna, where there is the danger of a hot stove, and around campfires, another danger point.

Hearing protection is recommended during the evening shows which tend to be a little louder.

We have workshops geared to children.
