Paul Jacobs Band

Paul Jacobs grew up in Leamington, ON, but quickly moved to Montreal to pursue music in a scene that he felt more at home in. Largely inspired by Cass McCombs’ music and Daniel Johnston’s work ethic, Jacobs taught himself how to play guitar at a young age and performed as a one-man band for many years. Despite now having an explosive live set that includes multiple members, Jacobs remains a one-man band in the recording studio as he writes, performs, records, and mixes all of his own music, which he also taught himself how to do at a young age. Self-described as “a mix between this and that”, Jacobs’ sound is a captivating, easy listening, untamed combination of lo-fi garage rock and psychedelia. His latest album, EASY (Plus extra S**T), is exactly that and more. When released in October of last year, Jacobs briefly wrote, “I recorded this album at home because it’s a fun way to pass the time”, and he’s been busy having fun making and releasing music since 2013. The dedication to his arts is obvious on his Bandcamp where he has released eight full-length albums and numerous EP’s and singles, which are always accompanied by his colourful personal animations and artwork.
